Safe Working Instructions – Loading Operations
After leaving the weighbridge proceed along the highlighted route to the loading area.
Key point: Upon arrival in the loading area await instruction from the site foreman who will instruct you on loading procedures.
Safety point: Remain vigilant at all times and give way to oncoming vehicles.
Manoeuvre vehicle into loading area following instruction of the banks man.
Key point: Watch out for other vehicles, personnel and plant when manoeuvring.
Safety point: Leaving you vehicle at any point beyond the weighbridge is strictly forbidden.
If reversing is required: Minimise the distance you have to travel. Make sure the area is clear. If a banksman is being used follow their signals.
Key point: If in doubt, STOP! Ensure the reversing beeper is working correctly. Use reversing aids such as mirrors and cameras whenever possible.
Safety point: Look out for banksmen, they are at high risk from reversing vehicles, if you can’t see him at any point STOP!
Allow the shovel operator to load the tipper body.
Key point: The shovel operator will signal when the tipper has been loaded, he will also supply any documentation if required.
Safety point: Remain in your vehicle at all times, no mobile phones or headsets to be used at any time.
After leaving the loading area proceed to the weighbridge along the designated route.
Key point: Drive slowly and come to a halt prior to the weighbridge.
Safety point: Remain vigilant at all times and give way to oncoming vehicles.
